The mission of the Trust and Estate Department at Barron Smith Daugert, PLLC (formerly known as Brett & Daugert, PLLC) is to guide, counsel and assist our clients in making legal and financial arrangements that protect and benefit themselves, their families and their communities, both during life and after death. Our clients are individuals, families and charities who value life and intend a legacy for future generations. It is important to us that our clients feel heard and understood. We attend to each client as a unique individual or family, listen to learn their particular life circumstances, and create plans that work for them. We help our clients recognize their issues and determine their needs, offering thoughtful responses, analysis, and options. The work we do helps people give security to their families, and meaning to their lives. We enjoy our work because we help people with some of life's most important decisions. An inheritance can assist or damage survivors, depending upon how it is planned. Thoughtful estate planning can help define family relationships and promote harmony. Planning can also increase the assets available to survivors and charities by reducing income, gift and estate taxes. We utilize all available tools, including:
J. Bruce Smith has practiced law since 1977, and has managed the Trust and Estate Department at Barron Smith Daugert since 1987. He has been a partner since 1989. Dennis Williams first joined the firm in 1981. He left in 1987 to serve as corporate counsel for Allsop Inc. He returned to private law practice in 1992. Dennis also practiced as a certified public accountant from 1966 to 1981.
